The Hot Air Balloon Festival is a yearly event in Pampanga. It used to be in Angeles City every February but this year, the festival was held from April 10 - 13 in Brgy Prado Siongco, Lubao which is 33 kms away from Angeles City.

Hot air balloons of different sizes, colors and shapes take flight in the new venue. We arrived at 2pm but the actual flying started around 5pm and we were able to witness how the hot air balloons were prepared for flight. The location is actually a world class theme park under construction and now host to the largest wakeboard park in Southeast Asia. Aside from the hot air balloons, there were also other activities like street dancing, live band performances, car shows, wakeboarding competitions, radio controlled aircraft demonstrations, kite flying, fireworks display, lots of food stalls and the most exciting activity for me was the hot air balloons night glow. The hot air balloons were amazingly glowing with just their helium lights against the darkness of the night.

To get there from Manila, we took NLEX and exited at the San Fernando toll plaza then drove left toward the Jose Abad Santos Avenue leading to Lubao. The site is near the welcome arch to our right.
